Supply Chain Consulting

Supply Chain Management can broadly be classified into two major areas namely supply planning and demand planning.

Supply planning focuses on areas of supply network design (production planning, distribution planning and facility sizing),route planning, capacity planning, Warehousing, inventory optimization and material requirement planning (MRP).

Whereas the demand planning focuses on forecasting and studying the demand patterns.

Each industry has their own unique needs both in supply planning and demand planning. For example, quick commerce may need to have Distribution centers (called as dark stores) that are small, but they are many and are very close to customers. Whereas a generic ecommerce firm, given its relatively longer lead time, may have distribution centers that are few but relatively bigger.

Similarly, the demand planning has different demand patterns. A pharmaceutical firm that focuses on cardiology may need not have a lot of seasonality in their demand, but a company that is into fast fashion may do.

We at ORMAE, on account of being involved with multiple industries and clients have developed an organizational knowledge that we leverage to understand and cater to our clients.
