    About the customer

    A retail multinational operating across Australia with headquarters at an important port hub who catered to the freight needs of multiple shipping agencies around the world.

    Business Problem

    The MNC needed a deep short and long-term view of the market demand for its products. The lack of it led to a lack of uniformity in product output and several other inconsistencies. The company needed ORMAE’s help for:

    • Demand forecasting for the company’s retail products.
    • Handing project challenges (scalability and intermittent demand at the lowest levels of hierarchy).

    Our Approach

    ORMAE's team worked on the requirements of the MNC client to develop a solution with the following deliverables:

    • An application that could do large scale demand forecasting (for 10,000+ products) for 200+ stores. The app could predict the weekly sales for a timeframe provided by the planner.
    • Univariate time series Forecasting Module for products with more than one year of historical sales.
    • A forecasting application that used ensemble Machine Learning models to predict demand for new products.

    The Result

    ORMAE's solution worked perfectly to meet client's expectations. It delivered demand forecasting numbers with 85% accuracy and tremendously improved profit margins.
